Goodbye, good luck and thanks!

Sadly today we say goodbye to our most digitally/socially aware client, Rebecca Smith from Telecom Business. We have embarked on an interesting journey together over the past 6 months. It has been challenging, exciting and frankly a hell of a lot of fun. Just what a great client should provide you as an agency.

From all of us Rebecca, thank you for your thought leadership, passion to experiment and belief in zigging when others were zagging. What we have been learning as a team will hold us all in good stead for some time to come.

“Every Best” from the Tribal team.

P.S. Thanks for a lovely lunch with plenty of laughs :)

OneShow + latest work

As that great scholar and academic, Zac Effron, once said, “Bop bop bop, straight to the top. Going for the glory, we’ll keep stepping up. And we just won’t stop ‘til we reach the top.”

Ok, it may not give Lennon a run for his money (hell, it even makes Ringo sound clever), but it does sum up Tribal’s last few months quite nicely. And before you close this page due to the sheer ridiculousness of that segue, let me quickly explain why.

Following the great Hot+Cold Digital Index outcome, and a hugely successful night at the AXIS Awards, our winning streak continues with news that Coastguard Live Rescue is the only NZ digital work to get shortlisted for the prestigious OneShow Awards. Coastguard was the result of months of hard work, late nights, and hours spent in freezing water so we couldn’t be happier with the OneShow shortlisting.

But Coastguard hasn’t been the only thing keeping us busy. In the last month, Tribal’s been hard at work creating and launching a FaceBook specific campaign for McDonald’s.

McDonald’s wanted to engage FaceBook users to celebrate the much anticipated return of their Deluxe Cheeseburger. The result was McDonald’s’ Deluxe Night Out; a fan page and application which allowed users to sign up and, with the help of 10 friends, win a chance to party in style. The prize included being the first people in the country to be served Deluxe Cheeseburgers, limousine rides, oh, and $500 each too.

It’s an exciting time for us. All our hard work is paying off with some really great results.

See, I told you that Zac Effron bit at the start would make sense.

In fact, we’re so busy pumping out dynamic and innovative work that we need more hands on deck! We’re currently searching for talented people to fill digital designer and developer roles, so if you fit the description, we’d love to hear from you!

Feel free to contact us or leave a message on our recently updated FaceBook profile.

AXIS Digital Metal

Less than two months have passed since Tribal NZ were celebrating a 2nd place ranking in Campaign Brief’s innovative new Digital Hot+Cold list (Full Service Digital Agencies Australasia) and wiser heads around the office having been muttering words like ‘catalyst’ and ‘momentum’ ever since.

Luckily enough the industry’s top dog creative awards ceremony, AXIS, was just around the corner, giving Tribal a chance to showcase some of its latest creative gems to the world and keep the warm glow of success burning.

Bingo! Warm fuzzies all round and a great reward for some hard work and long hours put in across the team. Amongst all the Lindauer and bread rolls, Coast Guard Live Rescue clinched 2 Gold AXIS awards – the first for Best Digital Craft for Tribal and another covering Best Charity for the DDB group.

A deserved win for an ambitious project. Aside from watching CD Dan Wright slip into some fetching neoprene, Coast Guard Live Rescue saw users take part online in a live 3.5 hour rescue of an upturned, GPS emitting boat, somewhere off the coast of Auckland.  Twice! But that’s another story.

Other significant wins were a Bronze in the Social Media category for Cadbury’s Crème Egg ‘ Goo Therapy’ campaign, and another Bronze for SKY TV’s salute the Troops in the viral division. Add a third place prize (online advertising) for an innovative ‘Hulk’ cinema add, triggered by the crowd’s shouting, and yet another Bronze for a hearing test widget created for the NFD and it was a good night’s haul. Taken together the wins show there’s genuine range in the type of work coming out of our labours, and the plan is to keep looking for new, effective ways of using digital platforms for clients.

About the Tribe

We are the New Zealand office of global interactive network Tribal DDB Worldwide. We form part of the DDB Group in NZ and work across the majority of clients with our sister agencies DDB and RAPP.

We are primarily a webshop, albeit focused on advertising campaigns across the digital space. Broadly we handle communications strategy, creative development and production of anything under the banner of digital communications - emails, websites, banners, mobile and the like.

We are by nature technology explorers and keep a pretty good eye on what is going on in the wider world.
